Kyle as Catcher

Kyle usually plays 1st or 3rd but today he asked his coach if he could play catcher and his coach put him in during the 6th inning. He did pretty well and had fun. You know, he might just have found a new position to play.

Kevin as Catcher

On an earlier post I mentioned how Kevin likes to play catcher and plays the position just like the big boys whereas if the ball pops up he will throw off the catcher's mask and try and catch the ball. Today, he played catcher and his dad was there to take pictures of his antics. See the series below.

Memorial Day Famly Dinner

Tonight we had a family BBQ. One of Chris' cousins from Houston came up with her friend to meet the rest of the family as her immediate family lives in Texas, the rest of us are up here. So here is the family as related to Chris, 1 grandmother, 2 uncles and aunts, 3 married cousins and their wives and their families (with 8 1/2 kids), 4 unmarried cousins, 1 friend and us and the boys; all 28 of us.

We had a great time with great food and Chris' aunt made wonderful cupcakes (she LOVES cupcakes) and a great lemon cake.

Saturday at Papa's

Today we went to Chris' dad's house to celebrate Memorial Day. His neighborhood does a big boat parade, BBQ, field games and dinghy races. The boys had a BLAST and we all came home a little pink as it was very sunny and hot. Yea!!

Kyle and Kevin on the ferry going over.

Tired of the Rain

It's official -- I'm am sick and tired of the rain. Both boys had their baseball games called due to rain. Kevin does not have to make up his game but Kyle does as he only got 3 innings played. When is spring going to start around here?? Last weekend was a wonderful 85 degrees and sunny and today it's 52 degrees and pouring down rain. I'm done, I want SUN!

Seafair Clowns with Kevin

Tonight we went to Seattle to a Mexican restaurant and while we were there the Seafair Clowns showed up.

Here's Kevin being "arrested" by the Chief.
According to this clown, you have to have a red nose.
These guys agreed. They were all so very nice.

Kevin's 7th Birthday Party

Today we had Kevin's birthday party in his grandparent's backyard. Here is Kevin trying to break open the pinata. He went first and hit it a couple of times but it was not until Kyle smacked it did the candy go flying out.

Here's Kevin with his cake and two of his favorite presents--a Huskie football and a Huskie basketball.
U of W Huskie football cake. You wouldn't know he was a fan, would you?

Baseball Saturday - Kyle

Here's Kyle at 1st base at his game today. It was hot this morning at his 9:00 game. He had a good game, they won!

Baseball Saturday-Kevin

Just have to brag on the little guy this week. Today at his baseball game, Kevin hit a home run. He hit it out in the hole between first and second base and ran fast. The poor outfielders did not get it back into the infield until he was rounding third. Kevin also played catcher today which he enjoys a lot.

The picture is actually from a different game as today was wonderful sunshine but dad is the camera man and he was at Kyle's game (same time different field) so I pulled a picture from the game a couple of weeks ago.

Walk-a-Thon

Yesterday, Friday, was the Walk-a-Thon fundraiser at my boys' school. All the kids got sponsors/pledges and walked around the school for one hour. Boy was it a great day for it as it was sunny and warm. The school goal was $18,000 and if they make it, it's no homework for a week! Last I heard, they were still a little short so if you want to help, let me know and I will tell you where to send the check. :)

Here's Kyle and some of his buddies, he's the one looking at me.
Here's Kevin in the Huskie hat, not running but walking very fast to catch up with his brother who had just passed me.

JBQ Regional Competition

We're back...we had a great time in Spokane. Kyle did well and participated in the regular team competition on Friday, the Quiz Bee and One on One on Saturday. He did very well and had lots of fun. As a church, we took 3 teams to Regionals and 2 of our teams qualified for Nationals.

Here's Kyle goofing around at lunch time.
Here is me. We sang "Father Abraham" with the motions. Since I had been a camp counselor for 3 summers and attended children and youth camps for way too many years, I was very familiar with the "movements". Kyle took the picture to prove his mom's a goof.
Here is Kyle receiving his certificate for One on One. Way to go Kyle.

Gone To Spokane!

This is Chris, Wendy and Kyle left earlier today for Spokane for JBQ Regionals. Wendy didnt take a laptop with her so more than likely there will be no posts from her until they return late Saturday night.

Of course this means that Kevin and I are "bach'ing" it the next few days. So after school tomorrow I've got to come up with something to entertain the little turkey with, Saturday Kevin has a baseball game (Kyle does as well, but will be missing this one).

Baseball Boys

Tonight both boys had games, both at 6:00 but at separate fields. The nice thing was the fields were only 2 miles apart. Chris watched Kyle's game while I went to Kevin's. About 45 minutes into the games, I get an text message from Chris--Kyle hit a grand slam home run! The first grand slam for the team of the season and the first home run for Kyle, let alone a grand slam. He was grinning from ear to ear.

Kevin decided to entertain us watching his team by playing the catcher position just like the big boys. If the ball popped up foul, he would rip off his catcher's mask so he could see better. It was so much fun.

The pictures below are from Saturday's game. Kyle got to pitch and he did really well. Chris took his picture while he was warming up so he would not be extra nervous.

Here's Kevin getting ready to throw the ball.
Added comments: According to Chris I did not explain Kyle's home run accurately since I was not there so I've added his comments below.

Wendy didn't do this justice. Kyle gets up to bat, bases loaded and after letting a couple of balls waft past, hunkers down and absolutely explodes on the ball, driving it deep into left center right in the hole, Kyle was so excited he nearly ran over the kid who was on first as he nearly overtook him coming into home. Serious ear to ear grin, the stands erupted and Kyle went home with the game ball. He followed that with a few crucial outs playing both first base and the last two innings at third, including tagging a guy out trying to steal third in a nail biting play. Awesome Job Kyle....

Happy Birthday Kevin

Happy Birthday Kevin! Today Kevin is 7 years old. Here's his official picture from the hospital when he was born. Isn't he just too cute. When I was pregnant with Kevin he would move and wiggle the most when I would be sitting at church as my pastor was preaching. So, it makes perfect sense that I would go into labor in the middle of church. Kevin was born at 3:50 a.m. and boy was I tired. But he was worth it all.

Love you boo-boy.

Kevin's Baseball Game

Here is Kevin at bat at today's game. His team did really well.

At Kevin's 2nd time at bat his coach pitched the ball and hit Kevin in the face. Kevin did so well, he did not want to come back to the bench to ice his eye until the coach assured him that he could go up to bat again at the end of the lineup. Here he is with the ice pack on his eye.

Kevin's Birthday Sundae

We went to Red Robin tonight after Kevin's baseball game. While we were there, Kevin told the server his birthday was in 2 days. They sang Happy Birthday to Kevin and brought him a sundae.

Ironman Movie

On Tuesday, our family got to go to a sneak preview of Ironman as I received 4 passes from work. Although we got to the theater 1 hour early, we were still #281-284 of 400 people. For the 4 of us to sit together, we had to sit in the very front row. Good thing the movie was GREAT. It was one we all enjoyed. We might just have to go again when it's released to theaters for real.
